OYSTER Incubator is part of a larger entity, a digital health RDI (Research, Development, and Innovation) Center, soon to be established by OuluHealth stakeholders around our brand-new university hospital. OYSTER Incubator opened its doors in September 2024 with pre-incubator program.

Program Details
- Location: OYSTER Incubator, Oulu
- Commitment: Frequent attendance at OYSTER premises (~every second week) with individual support available.
- Duration: Runs until August 2026, with continued eligibility based on milestone achievement.
- Language: Training is partially in English; proficiency is essential.
- Delivery: Executed by OYSTER Incubator with contributions from external experts.

- NeuraScope: (Nsrein Ali)
NeuraScope is a pioneering company dedicated to early diagnostic development. We create innovative platforms for the early detection of various brain-related diseases, including different subtypes of dementia and brain cancers. Our mission is to facilitate early intervention, ensuring that treatment begins before symptoms significantly affect quality of life.
Current methods for diagnosing these conditions are often expensive, inaccurate, and require specialized expertise. They frequently miss the opportunity for early detection of dementia. In contrast, our platforms introduce the first-ever home-based sampling method that is needle-free, precise, cost-effective, and accessible to all age groups. We boast a multidisciplinary team that includes clinicians, scientists, business development professionals, and regulatory experts.
By enabling timely intervention, NeuraScope is shaping the future to enhance patient compliance and improve quality of life.
- WICOAR Technologies (Rauno Jokelainen)
WICOAR Technologies develops wireless wearable solutions based on augmented reality (AR) for healthcare providers and hospitals. The company’s products, such as HealthVision and HealthAudio, enhance clinical workflows by enabling hands-free access to patient data, secure audio communication, and real-time collaboration in operating rooms and patient wards.

- Ennen Oy (Mikko Katajamäki)
Ennen Oy develops a digital service for the early detection of memory disorders. The service helps aging individuals and their families recognize memory-related concerns in time and guides them to healthcare when needed. The goal is to improve treatment outcomes, reduce human suffering, and generate significant savings for society.
- APPS (Tomi Väänänen)
APPS (AI Assisted Patient Positioning Solution) is a research project focused on investigating ways to improve X‑ray imaging through innovative technological solutions. Our aim in the research is to identify solutions that ensure the patient is correctly positioned and aligned before the actual X‑ray is taken. The goal of the project is to find solutions that enhance imaging accuracy, reduce unnecessary retakes, and support radiographers in their work with more efficient methods.
Our project team consists of three hospital physicists, a business development expert, an IT specialist, and a radiographer. Our project is funded by Business Finland’s Research to Business ‑funding.
- Seton (Saku Huttunen)
Seton is an AI based web application, which takes care of the notes, while you can focus on being present and having a meaningful conversation. Our summary compilation features saves a lot of time and makes everything fluent, increasing also the quality of your notes.
There are also plenty of other helpful features.
Seton has been designed especially for psychotherapists, social workers and elder care nurses, but also suitable for anyone doing work with interviews or discussions.
- MemorySenior (Nina Sevander)
MemorySenior is a well-being app for the elderly combining physical, psychological and social support in one easy-to-use solution. It offers physical video-guided exercises, Montessori-based memory and cognition activities, and a memory book that strengthens community and belonging. The app also stores statistical information on activity and progress, providing valuable insights for care personnel and management. For staff, it is a helpful additional tool that frees up time for other nursing work, as well as improves planning and efficiency for management. For seniors it improves staying active, committed and connected with everyday care providing more joy and independence in daily life.
- Oodio Oy (Erasmus van Niekerk)
Oodio is an Oulu-based health-tech startup developing a system that quantifies infant crying, turning a common source of stress into structured data that supports clearer conversations between parents and healthcare professionals.
Validated by Finnish clinicians, the system has the potential to reduce unnecessary doctor visits caused by uncertainty, an issue behind an estimated 18,000 extra appointments in Finland each year.
Our team previously developed internationally awarded baby tech. That experience now drives our lean, care-informed approach. We’re currently fundraising to pilot the system with local partners and generate real-world data to guide future development.

- ChainPeptides (Tejesvi Mysore)
ChainPeptides Oy develops smart plasters for Diabetic foot ulcers. Our plasters use antimicrobial peptides and biosensors to track infections and targeted release of antimicrobials in real time. This makes treatment safer, faster, and easier for both patients and healthcare professionals. We aim to reduce complications, lower treatment costs, and improve quality of life for people with diabetic foot ulcers.
- VitD3Act (Julius Gomez)
Osteoarthritis is one of the most widespread yet underserved diseases, with most current treatments offering only temporary symptom relief. VitD3Act, Our project is dedicated to developing safer and more effective therapeutic options with true disease-modifying potential, aiming to protect joints and improve quality of life for patients of all ages—from juvenile to the elderly. By pursuing this path, we will give people a life free from osteoarthritis-related disability.
- Mind Pilot (Chamika Karunarathna)
A cognitive load monitoring system for drivers. This innovative driver safety system helps keep drivers alert and safe, even in challenging conditions like long drives, icy roads, or sudden obstacles. Worn as a comfortable wristband, it monitors signs of fatigue and stress in real time while also considering the driving environment and vehicle status. Unlike current systems, it is self-powered and energy-efficient, making it reliable even in off-grid or rural areas. By combining smart sensing with sustainable design, the system supports safer, greener, and more resilient mobility.
- iHealth (Prabhash Rathnayake)
iHealth is a smartphone-based health assistance platform that helps anyone monitor and protect their eye health. Using AI to analyze retinal images in real time, it supports early detection of diabetic eye conditions and guides users toward timely care directly from their phone.
- Cuidoo (Riikka Kärkkäinen)
Cuidoo brings matchmaking into caretaking. We want to create a platform and app where caregivers and people in need find each other easily and in real time by creating and browsing profiles.
Caregiver specifies what kind of help they can offer. Person in need details what they need and when and where. Then they can match accordingly.
Users can chat in real time, announce open jobs plan and secure work schedules, give feedback and have instructions for caregivers visible.
AI assists in creating these profiles so it’s doable for everyone.
This way Cuidoo platform allows caregivers from assitans to nurses and babysitters to offer their services and elderly people, people with disabilities and families with kids to find the help that suitable them best

- eSine (Jenna Ahvensalmi)
eSine is transforming EEG analysis with a new method that delivers clear, ready-to-use test results for clinicians. Our first test focuses on comatose post–cardiac arrest patients, providing an automated neurological outcome assessment that supports treatment decisions and helps predict recovery potential. By reducing manual workload and uncertainty, we enable doctors to focus on decisions, not raw signals. With deep biomedical engineering expertise and solutions built around clinicians’ needs, we are building the future standard for EEG.

By providing personalized, context-aware recommendations—such as stress management strategies or cycle-based adjustments—it empowers both patients with chronic conditions and proactive individuals to stay in control of their health every day, with transparency and trust at its core.
- NerveIQ (Khaled Md Saifullah)
NerveIQ is a digital health platform that makes medication routines for chronic patients simple, accurate, and stress-free. It provides personalized reminders, automated medication management, and seamless real-time integration with OmaKanta to ensure that patients and healthcare providers always have up-to-date prescription information. The system combines smart automation, AI-driven routines, and a user-friendly interface designed specifically for individuals managing complex or long-term treatments.

Rejocare’s mission is to become a leading supplier of technologies and solutions for the Finnish market in the field of remote healthcare services. Rejocare collaborates with a network of partners to provide a comprehensive range of services, ensuring high-quality remote healthcare solutions across Finland.
Our object is to improve the access to care in remote areas – reaching regions where the distance to hospitals and clinics is significant, and providing residents with high-quality healthcare services. Enhancing response times in urban and suburban areas – offering faster access to medical care for communities located near hospitals and clinics that still experience long waiting times.
