Oulu University Hospital among World’s Best Smart Hospitals 2026
Oulu University Hospital has proudly secured a place in the ranking published by Newsweek and Statista. The list features 350 leading hospitals across 30 countries. This year’s ranking also highlights standout categories in specific areas of digital innovation.
The World’s Best Smart Hospitals ranking is based on an international online survey, the Statista Smart Hospitals Maturity Survey (SSHMS), Joint Commission International hospital accreditation, and independent research. In 2026, the SSHMS introduced three additional recognition tiers:
- One ribbon for hospitals scoring below 80%
- Two ribbons for hospitals scoring between 80% and 89.9%, with at least seven of 10 topics answered
- Three ribbons for hospitals scoring above 90%, with at least nine of 10 topics answered
Prominent hospitals featured on this year’s list include Mayo Clinic – Rochester (#1), Charité – Universitätsmedizin Berlin (#8), Sheba Medical Center (#9), Karolinska Universitetssjukhuset (#11), and Aarhus Universitetshospital (#14).
Oulu University Hospital ranked #286. The evaluation focused on the hospital’s use of artificial intelligence, robotics, telemedicine, smart buildings, and electronic health information systems, among other innovations.
These hospitals are recognized as global leaders in medical innovation, driving systemic changes that will shape the future of patient care.
