GeroNurs­ing Cen­tre to receive major research grant

Sinikka Lotvo­nen, a post­doc researcher at the Uni­ver­si­ty of Oulu (GeroNurs­ing Cen­tre, GNC), has received a 28000 € grant from Päivik­ki and Sakari Sohlberg Foun­da­tion for her research. The grants strength­en efforts to pro­mote the well-being of chil­dren, young peo­ple, and the elder­ly.

The aim of Sinikka Lotvonen’s research is to describe nurs­es’ com­pe­tence in restora­tive care for old­er adults in nurs­ing homes and to exam­ine the effec­tive­ness of an edu­ca­tion­al inter­ven­tion on old­er adults’ func­tion­ing and their need for health­care ser­vices. The goal is to gen­er­ate knowl­edge to sup­port the devel­op­ment of restora­tive nurs­ing care for old­er adults in nurs­ing homes. The edu­ca­tion­al is being devel­oped at the GeroNurs­ing Cen­tre. It is based on sci­en­tif­ic evi­dence and will be deliv­ered as an online train­ing pro­gram.
