GeroNursing Centre to receive major research grant
Sinikka Lotvonen, a postdoc researcher at the University of Oulu (GeroNursing Centre, GNC), has received a 28000 € grant from Päivikki and Sakari Sohlberg Foundation for her research. The grants strengthen efforts to promote the well-being of children, young people, and the elderly.
The aim of Sinikka Lotvonen’s research is to describe nurses’ competence in restorative care for older adults in nursing homes and to examine the effectiveness of an educational intervention on older adults’ functioning and their need for healthcare services. The goal is to generate knowledge to support the development of restorative nursing care for older adults in nursing homes. The educational is being developed at the GeroNursing Centre. It is based on scientific evidence and will be delivered as an online training program.
