North­ern Fin­land Birth Cohorts pub­lic lec­ture and anniver­sary cel­e­bra­tion, Oulu

Wel­come to the cel­e­bra­tion of a mile­stone year for the North­ern Fin­land Birth Cohorts.

The pub­lic lec­ture will present cohort research and its find­ings, explained by the researchers them­selves. The pre­sen­ta­tion lan­guages are Finnish and Eng­lish. In addi­tion, dur­ing the birth­day cel­e­bra­tion of the 40- and 60-year cohorts, we will cel­e­brate the par­tic­i­pants’ out­stand­ing con­tri­bu­tion to health research.

There will be an oppor­tu­ni­ty to learn more about cohort data col­lec­tion, meet the cohort cen­ter staff, and engage with researchers from the Uni­ver­si­ty of Oulu who have used the data in their stud­ies.

The pub­lic lec­ture will be livestreamed on the Uni­ver­si­ty of Oulu’s YouTube chan­nel, and a direct link will be added to this page a few days before the event.

At the Uni­ver­si­ty of Oulu, the North­ern Fin­land Birth Cohort stud­ies have been fol­low­ing pop­u­la­tion health and well­be­ing for over 60 years. In 2026–2027, indi­vid­u­als born in 1966 who are part of the study will be invit­ed to par­tic­i­pate in a new exten­sive fol­low-up data col­lec­tion, which will col­lect com­pre­hen­sive infor­ma­tion about their health, fac­tors influ­enc­ing health, and healthy age­ing.
