Brilliant teams selected for the latest OYSTER Pre-Incubator Program in Oulu

This autumn, fourteen enthusiastic teams from diverse backgrounds have started their journey with the OYSTER Pre-Incubator Program in Oulu. Each of them brings in fresh perspectives, innovative ideas, and ambitious concepts. They are ready to explore, validate, and develop their ideas into impactful health solutions.

The teams joined the kick-off ceremony on 28 August at the Incubator premises, marking the official start of their exciting entrepreneurial adventure. They gained more insight into the OYSTER pre-Incubator program, got to know each other, and the Incubator’s professionals who will support them throughout the process.

‘The R&D phase for health and life science companies is long and demanding. With the OYSTER Pre-Incubator, we wanted to create a program that allows teams to enter with just an idea and leave with a clear go/no-go decision. This way, we speed up the process and ensure a solid foundation before moving to the incubator phase,’ said Minna Komu, Network Director at the OuluHealth ecosystem.

The 100-day OYSTER pre-Incubator program is specifically aimed at emerging entrepreneurs, researchers, students, and professionals who have ideas or solutions to address challenges in the health sector and to contribute to delivering better health services to all individuals. It equips the teams with the knowledge, tools, and guidance needed to develop their ideas and transform them into viable health solutions.

Participants will focus on:

  • business idea validation
  • product and business development
  • customer segment identification
  • business models
  • regulatory insights
  • funding opportunities
  • pitching and presentation skills

The teams will make sure that their concepts are relevant, learn how to refine offerings to meet real-world needs and how to build scalable strategies. They will also receive useful information on navigating legal and compliance requirements, as well as securing financial support. In addition, the pre-Incubator will offer numerous training sessions, which will help its participants communicate ideas effectively to investors and stakeholders. Each team will be supported by a dedicated mentor and benefit from events, which will foster collaboration throughout the program.

‘Now the real journey begins. Over the next 100 days, the teams will gain access to tools, mentoring, and a community that will challenge and inspire them. It’s not only about learning business models and regulations — it’s also about building confidence, finding the right networks, and seeing the joy of health innovation. I hope that during the program, the teams discover new perspectives, refine their solutions, and perhaps even lay the foundation for the next success stories in healthtech. I’m very excited to see how their ideas evolve’, adds Komu.

We look forward to seeing how these passionate teams will evolve their ideas into solutions that can make a meaningful difference in the health sector. Stay tuned for updates and follow their journey.
