Another step taken towards the establishment of Oulu as an important HealthTech Hub! MedPhab Ry, a non-profit association, was founded in Oulu in 2023 with the mission to accelerate the access of novel medical devices to the market and provide better healthcare solutions to society.
The association’s founding members include VTT (Finland), Philips (Netherlands), Jabil (Austria unit), CSEM (Switzerland), Tyndall (Ireland), and Joanneum Research (Austria). These top European research institutes and ISO 13485-certified manufacturing companies combine their expertise and state-of-the-art infrastructure to offer world-class development services to medical device developers and start-ups. In addition to technical know-how, MedPhab members have a proven track record of acquiring multimillion EU-funded projects, which ecosystem members can leverage for financial support.
MedPhab aims to accelerate the commercialization of diagnostic devices and instruments for treatment based on photonics by offering systems, procedures, and protocols to guide partners through the device design, standardization, and manufacturing phases, helping to reduce the R&D cost.
