During the next webinar, co-hosted by OuluHealth, you will hear about unique testing and development environments for companies and healthcare professionals, the OuluHealth Labs. Along with that, you will find out how this platform enables pervasive cooperation and provides end-users with valuable feedback for every phase of an R&D process. This time a special focus will be on the Mittlab, a medical imaging teaching and test laboratory located on the premises of Oulu University Hospital. The speakers will introduce you to the lab facilities, both physical and virtual, and tell you about the opportunities for testing, research, and teaching.

Speakers:

Timo Alalääkkölä is a Development Manager and Head of Testing and Innovations in the Wellbeing services county of North Ostrobothnia. He has a comprehensive professional background in international business development and global sourcing, but above all a passion for innovative health and welfare solutions. Timo supervises the activities of OuluHealth Labs and is the contact person for those who would like to test and co-develop ideas and solutions in Oulu in authentic environments with genuine users.

Karoliina Paalimäki-Paakki is a Doctor of Health Sciences and works as a Principal Lecturer in the Oulu University of Applied Sciences (OUAS) Radiography and Radiation Therapy Program. She is also the chair of Finnish Society of Radiography Research and a member of the EFRS Educational Wing Management Team. Karoliina’s fields of specialization are safe-use of radiation, plain X-ray examinations, and CT-examinations. Additionally, her role includes supervising the theses, tutoring, project work, and digital mentoring.

Miika Nieminen is a Professor of Medical Physics and Vice Chair of the Research Unit of Health Sciences and Technology within the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Oulu. He is the Chief Physicist at the Department of Diagnostics, Oulu University Hospital. His R&D interests lie in the development of novel tomographic medical imaging technologies. Formerly he has conducted research at the University of Kuopio and Harvard Medical School. He is a fellow of the International Society for Magnetic Resonance in Medicine and recipient of the Carl Wegelius medal from the Radiological Society of Finland.
