Oulu’s health companies present innovations at Arab Health 2018 in Dubai

This year Finnish highly valued expertise in health technology was represented at Arab Health 2018 in Dubai by OuluHealth and nine Oulu-based health companies: Cerenion, Conlog, Convergentia , Detection Technology, Ginolis, Mediracer, MedKit Finland, Optomed, and ProWellness Health Solutions.

Health companies showcased their products and services in hall 3 at the stand A10 in the Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre during the biggest trade fair in the Middle East, which lasted from 29 January to 1 February. Dubai was the place to be for those who aim to bring innovative solutions to international markets and add sustainable value to the healthcare sector. Arab Health provided companies with excellent opportunities to gain more visibility, strengthen own brand and build lasting relations with local stakeholders.

Finland ranks among the strongest health technology economies in the world so innovations from Oulu also attracted a great deal of attention in Dubai.

‘It’s great to see the growing international interest in health technology innovations from Finland. Arab Health conference and trade fair is definitely the event you don’t want to miss if you are looking for potential customers from the Middle East as it’s the place to establish new business contacts and even close deals right away,’ said Heidi Tikanmäki, key account director in Health&Life Science in BusinessOulu.

Finnish companies provide top-of the-line health technology and OuluHealth is already a widely recognised brand. A Finnish pavilion, organized by BusinessOulu and Business Finland, gathered a lot of visitors, which resulted in many discussions between the companies and potential business partners.

‘Being present at Arab Health is a good opportunity to meet economic actors in the field of medical technology as well as officials from hospitals and the Ministry of Health delegations from the MENA region,’ said Hicham Idrissi, Optomed’s regional manager for the Middle East and Africa.

Two of the health companies from Oulu that attended the event, Medkit Finland Ltd and Conlog Group, presented a 30 million dollar worth Mobile Field Hospital concept.

‘The Middle East and Africa region (MENA) has huge potential in medical construction. Therefore, Arab Health is an excellent event to meet potential customers, logistic partners and decision makers from all over the world. It’s true that culture and market are different in the Middle East but business opportunities remain the same,’ said Minna Åman-Toivio, founder of Medkit Finland.

Arab Health 2018 is definitely a must-attend event for those who look for new business contacts from the MENA region. However, real work starts after the trade fair.
