OAMK Labs awarded as the best learning environment for young entrepreneurs
For the second time the jury have chosen the winner of the Innovative Youth Incubator Awards Competition (ICIE) and this year the award went to Oamk LABs, the entrepreneurial learning environment at Oulu University of Applied Sciences.
The competition was organized in cooperation with the annual International Conference on Innovation and Entrepreneurship which took place on 26 – 27 April 2017 in Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia. The conference covered the topics of business, economics, entrepreneurship, innovation, and business management. It mainly focused on examples of creative and innovative approaches to the development of young entrepreneurs. ICIE attracts a wide range of academic scholars and individuals who are engaged in various aspects of innovation and entrepreneurship. This year the event was attended by participants from 25 countries.
Oamk LABs has been awarded as the most innovative and effective initiative which offers young people an inspired way of learning new competences, supports creation of businesses, and develops innovative solutions.
The criteria used to evaluate applicants included:
- the infrastructure/support provided by the institution
- the links to other entrepreneurship activities
- the performance of the initiative so far, including any ratings by participants
- the challenges that were encountered
- plans to further develop/improve the initiative
It is not the first time that Oamk LABs has been noticed and appreciated worldwide as it came second in the same Innovative Youth Incubator Awards Competition last year. In 2015 it was chosen the best work and business development center in Finland.
