OuluHealth Labs

OuluHealth Labs is a co-cre­ation plat­form that enables coop­er­a­tion between health and social care providers, research and inno­va­tion organ­i­sa­tions and com­pa­nies. OuluHealth Labs con­sist of four test bed facil­i­ties, which pro­vide an inte­grat­ed devel­op­ment envi­ron­ment and end-users’ feed­back for every phase of a R&D process.

OuluHealth Labs pro­vides your prod­uct a unique, inte­grat­ed health test and devel­op­ment envi­ron­ment – includ­ing pro­fes­sion­als’ feed­back – at all stages of your devel­op­ment process. Our doors are open for inno­v­a­tive pilots that add val­ue to patient care from home to hos­pi­tal.

OuluHealth Labs offer­ing includes:

  1. User – ori­ent­ed devel­op­ment and test­ing ser­vices.
  2. Facil­i­ties and equip­ment for rent.
  3. Pre­sen­ta­tions of prod­ucts and facil­i­ties.
  4. Train­ings and expert-cre­at­ed pack­ages tai­lored to the spe­cif­ic needs of com­pa­nies and oth­er tar­get groups.

Mit­t­lab

If you want to devel­op your prod­uct or ser­vice in the field of med­ical imag­ing

Mit­t­lab is a med­ical imag­ing teach­ing and test lab­o­ra­to­ry on the premis­es of Oulu Uni­ver­si­ty Hos­pi­tal. It offers wide vari­ety of phys­i­cal and vir­tu­al­ized med­ical imag­ing tools for research, edu­ca­tion and prod­uct devel­op­ment pur­pos­es.

OuluHealth Labs has devel­oped a sys­tem­at­ic approach to eval­u­ate dig­i­tal and tech­no­log­i­cal solu­tions and inno­va­tions. Based on this eval­u­a­tion process, OuluHealth Labs can give as an acknowl­edg­ment an OuluHealth Labs Label for the com­pa­ny and its solu­tion that has passed the process. Labels are divid­ed into three dif­fer­ent cat­e­gories.

TEST­ED

What can be eval­u­at­ed?

The solu­tion is tar­get­ed at the social and health­care sec­tor and is still being devel­oped. The devel­op­er / com­pa­ny wants to get feed­back for fur­ther devel­op­ment process. Anoth­er option is that the solu­tion already exists, but it is not direct­ly tar­get­ed at the social and health­care sec­tor. In this case, a com­pa­ny wants to test the fea­si­bil­i­ty of their solu­tion to social and health­care sec­tor.

What is eval­u­at­ed dur­ing the process?

Solution’s fea­si­bil­i­ty, usabil­i­ty and safe­ty (where applic­a­ble), and plau­si­ble ben­e­fits and pro­vid­ed added val­ue for the social and health­care sec­tor.

Who con­ducts eval­u­a­tion?

Social and health­care pro­fes­sion­als, oth­er end-user groups that are involved in test­ing, and actors that coor­di­nate the test­ing process.

Require­ments for the label

A com­plet­ed test­ing process in accor­dance with the test­ing plan. Test­ing has improved the uti­liza­tion of the solu­tion in a new envi­ron­ment or test­ing has pro­vid­ed infor­ma­tion about the pos­si­ble uti­liza­tion of the solu­tion in a test­ing envi­ron­ment. Test­ing has improved fur­ther devel­op­ment of the solu­tion.

A solu­tion or idea that matu­ri­ty is intend­ed to devel­op, or a solu­tion or idea that fea­si­bil­i­ty is intend­ed to devel­op in the con­text of social and health­care.

OuluHealth Labs has val­i­dat­ed process for col­lab­o­ra­tion and co-cre­ation. To start the col­lab­o­ra­tion, com­pa­nies have to sub­mit their pro­pos­al online. After this, rep­re­sen­ta­tives of OuluHealth Labs eval­u­ate sub­mit­ted pro­pos­als bi-week­ly and con­tact com­pa­nies. If the pro­pos­al is accept­ed, the kick-off- meet­ing is orga­nized and then begins a prepa­ra­tion phase. Dur­ing the prepa­ra­tion phase e.g., test or co-cre­ation plan is pre­pared and agreed. After all required agree­ments, test users are recruit­ed, and test­ing / co-cre­ation is exe­cut­ed accord­ing to test plan. Last phase includes pos­si­ble feed­back ses­sion and invoic­ing prac­ti­cal­i­ties.
