Screentec Oy joined forces with Protex Balti AS & Movesense Oy in textile integrated remote health monitoring
New advancements in technology are transforming healthcare. They enable the collection, analysis, and transmission of vital patient health data like ECG, heart rate, heart rate variability, and movement. These innovations allow remote health monitoring, improving care and convenience for patients and healthcare professionals.
By combining their expertise, Screentec Oy, Movesense Oy, and Protex Balti AS can now offer healthcare operators, medical device manufacturers, and remote patient monitoring providers with a complete package for wearable electronic concept design, development, and manufacturing. For customers, this partnership streamlines the process of expanding into wearable electronics, providing a highly efficient way to explore new product lines and enter untapped markets, leaving the design and manufacturing into the capable hands of these collaborators.
‘At the end of 2023, I proposed to our CEO Antti Tauriainen that we should concentrate on textile integration of printed electronics to expand our capabilities and offering. By the end of spring 2024, I had met with Helena Almqvist, Managing Director at Protex Balti AS, and it was immediately clear that their expertise in smart textiles complemented ours. Later, we brought in Movesense, whose cutting-edge wearable sensors were the final piece we needed to complete this collaboration,’ said Mikko Paakkolanvaara, CTO at Screentec Oy.
‘Together, we worked with determination to create the first demonstrator – a textile-integrated ECG sensor embedded in a vest – designed to showcase the combined strengths of the three companies. “While the demonstrator is not yet tested for washing, it represents what can be achieved through this kind of partnership. We were proud to present it at MEDICA last week.’ he added.
This partnership combines Screentec’s expertise in printed electronics development and manufacturing, Movesense’ s advanced sensor technology, and Protex Balti’s mastery in smart textiles and textile manufacturing. While still in its early stages, this collaboration highlights practical advancements in remote health monitoring and wearable medical devices.
