Onnikka has been recognised with the Impact Act of the Year 2024 award

Oulu-based company Onnikka has received an award from the Finnish Society for Effectiveness in Social and Healthcare. The Impact Act of the Year prize highlights actions, innovations, and successes promoting social and healthcare impact in Finland. The evaluation panel particularly praised Onnikka for the uniqueness of its method, the demonstrated evidence of its impact, and its solution to the growing obesity problem. Additionally, Onnikka is significant to the national economy.
The company has developed a program optimized for smartphones that supports behavior and lifestyle change management. It helps overweight and obese people change their attitudes, thoughts, and behaviors towards a healthier direction. The result is permanent weight loss, as demonstrated by extensive clinical studies. Obesity significantly increases healthcare costs. In Finland, obesity-related costs account for 8.4% of all healthcare expenses, and the direct annual healthcare costs for obese individuals are 48% (€866) higher than for the rest of the population. According to the OECD, every euro spent on obesity prevention brings sixfold savings, and Onnikka offers ways to achieve these savings in a scalable and user-friendly manner.
Congratulations to the Onnika on this significant recognition!
