Medanets was successfully implemented in the wellbeing services county of Ostrobothnia

The Wellbeing Services County of Ostrobothnia has implemented the Medanets mobile solution as part of a comprehensive information system covering both primary and specialised healthcare. The Lifecare EHR (Electronic Health Record), provided by Tietoevry Care, serves as the core of the system, with Medanets seamlessly integrated to support workflows.
The Medanets app allows nursing staff to document key patient data and access up-to-date information on their mobile devices, whether they are with the patient or on the move. The information documented within the app is instantly available to everyone involved in the care process, on both desktop and mobile devices, ultimately improving the flow of information between healthcare professionals.
The introduction of the app streamlines nursing workflows and helps maintain accurate, up-to-date documentation in inpatient wards. According to Carola Wisur-Hokkannen, Project Manager of the wellbeing services country, the app supports healthcare professionals by smoothly enabling documentation during patient encounters, providing evident benefits to the staff, and has gathered positive feedback.
The delivery of the system was carried out in phases, starting in October 2024. The Medanets app was introduced in early 2025 as part of the rollout. The implementation was a collaborative effort between the healthcare provider, Tietoevry Care, and the IT partner 2M-IT.
The solution includes a comprehensive set of Medanets features, such as the Dashboard, Observation Values, Early Warning Score, Clinical Forms, Monitored Patients, and Medication. The Medication feature also comes with an optional module for displaying medication images and additional information, which is currently in the testing phase and will be launched later. Sepsis screening is also planned for a future phase of the rollout.
At the request of the healthcare provider, all key user training was delivered remotely via Microsoft Teams. The training was conducted in both Finnish and Swedish, supported by on-demand training videos in both languages. Key users then took on the responsibility of training end users on the wards. The approach proved effective, with the app now in successful use across multiple wards.
