Medanets suc­ceeds in the health­care mar­ket of the Nordic coun­tries and the UK

Oulu-based Medanets is expect­ed to dou­ble its turnover over the next three years. With the estab­lished con­tracts, the com­pa­ny will answer the health­care needs of more than 10 mil­lion peo­ple in the Nordic coun­tries and the UK. Medanets’ suc­cess is based on a supe­ri­or prod­uct, a mobile appli­ca­tion designed for health­care pro­fes­sion­als, and the company’s abil­i­ty to build long-term part­ner­ships and cus­tomer rela­tion­ships based on trust.

Val­ues dri­ve the work and cre­ate long-term growth

More than 10 new cus­tomers in a short peri­od of time is a sig­nif­i­cant achieve­ment for Medanets, giv­en the often lengthy pro­cure­ment and con­trac­tu­al process­es in the health­care sec­tor. Acquir­ing a tech­nol­o­gy solu­tion such as the Medanets appli­ca­tion requires care­ful prepa­ra­tion, com­pet­i­tive ten­der­ing and the com­mit­ment of mul­ti­ple stake­hold­ers to a com­mon project. Medanets’ val­ue-based approach, its track record of suc­cess and its long-term com­mit­ment to cus­tomer rela­tion­ships have made the com­pa­ny an attrac­tive part­ner in the health­care sec­tor. The increas­ing need for effi­cient and inte­grable mobile solu­tions has also con­tributed to accel­er­at­ing the demand. A tru­ly user-friend­ly appli­ca­tion with a short return on invest­ment peri­od is one way to man­age the work­load of health­care pro­fes­sion­als and tack­le the short­age of staff.

CEO Juha-Mat­ti Ranta is con­vinced that Medanets’ suc­cess is based on the company’s abil­i­ty to build long-term rela­tion­ships with cus­tomers and part­ners.

“This indus­try is extreme­ly slow-mov­ing, and sales cycles are long. Con­verse­ly, when you win the trust of your coun­ter­part, the cus­tomer rela­tion­ships are real­ly long. An empa­thet­ic approach is an inte­gral part of Medanets’ val­ue base. This may sound insencere, but a val­ue-based approach will cre­ate growth and suc­cess in this indus­try, soon­er or lat­er. We nev­er look for quick wins, the key is to pro­vide added val­ue for the cus­tomer. Medanets has nev­er lost a sin­gle cus­tomer,” says Ranta.

Strong posi­tion in Fin­land, growth in the Nordic coun­tries and the UK

Much of Medanets’ growth is com­ing from the UK, where the app is cur­rent­ly in pro­duc­tion use in three NHS Trusts, in a total of 13 hos­pi­tals. Eleven NHS Trusts have con­firmed orders, with deploy­ments either under­way or start­ing in the near future. The con­tracts are long, with an aver­age dura­tion of ten years.

In Fin­land, Medanets is the mar­ket leader in its field, and growth oppor­tu­ni­ties emerge as the local well­be­ing ser­vices coun­ties are har­mon­is­ing the EHR sys­tems they use. Dur­ing the last year, Medanets has been involved in sev­er­al projects that have won ten­ders for EHR sys­tems.

Among the Nordic coun­tries, Nor­way, in par­tic­u­lar, has proven to be a promis­ing mar­ket for growth. In autumn 2024, Medanets was invit­ed to Nor­way for a high-lev­el vis­it as part of a busi­ness del­e­ga­tion to strength­en export coop­er­a­tion and show­case Finnish inno­va­tions on the Nordic stage. The vis­it took place in the con­text of a state vis­it by the Pres­i­dent of the Repub­lic of Fin­land, Alexan­der Stubb, and his wife. Medanets also has a foothold in Swe­den, and the com­pa­ny expects growth in the Ger­man-speak­ing mar­ket with a new part­ner­ship. Medanets will grow by just over 10 % in 2024, with growth accel­er­at­ing steadi­ly in the com­ing years.
