Medanets succeeds in the healthcare market of the Nordic countries and the UK
Oulu-based Medanets is expected to double its turnover over the next three years. With the established contracts, the company will answer the healthcare needs of more than 10 million people in the Nordic countries and the UK. Medanets’ success is based on a superior product, a mobile application designed for healthcare professionals, and the company’s ability to build long-term partnerships and customer relationships based on trust.
Values drive the work and create long-term growth
More than 10 new customers in a short period of time is a significant achievement for Medanets, given the often lengthy procurement and contractual processes in the healthcare sector. Acquiring a technology solution such as the Medanets application requires careful preparation, competitive tendering and the commitment of multiple stakeholders to a common project. Medanets’ value-based approach, its track record of success and its long-term commitment to customer relationships have made the company an attractive partner in the healthcare sector. The increasing need for efficient and integrable mobile solutions has also contributed to accelerating the demand. A truly user-friendly application with a short return on investment period is one way to manage the workload of healthcare professionals and tackle the shortage of staff.
CEO Juha-Matti Ranta is convinced that Medanets’ success is based on the company’s ability to build long-term relationships with customers and partners.
“This industry is extremely slow-moving, and sales cycles are long. Conversely, when you win the trust of your counterpart, the customer relationships are really long. An empathetic approach is an integral part of Medanets’ value base. This may sound insencere, but a value-based approach will create growth and success in this industry, sooner or later. We never look for quick wins, the key is to provide added value for the customer. Medanets has never lost a single customer,” says Ranta.
Strong position in Finland, growth in the Nordic countries and the UK
Much of Medanets’ growth is coming from the UK, where the app is currently in production use in three NHS Trusts, in a total of 13 hospitals. Eleven NHS Trusts have confirmed orders, with deployments either underway or starting in the near future. The contracts are long, with an average duration of ten years.
In Finland, Medanets is the market leader in its field, and growth opportunities emerge as the local wellbeing services counties are harmonising the EHR systems they use. During the last year, Medanets has been involved in several projects that have won tenders for EHR systems.
Among the Nordic countries, Norway, in particular, has proven to be a promising market for growth. In autumn 2024, Medanets was invited to Norway for a high-level visit as part of a business delegation to strengthen export cooperation and showcase Finnish innovations on the Nordic stage. The visit took place in the context of a state visit by the President of the Republic of Finland, Alexander Stubb, and his wife. Medanets also has a foothold in Sweden, and the company expects growth in the German-speaking market with a new partnership. Medanets will grow by just over 10 % in 2024, with growth accelerating steadily in the coming years.
