Innokas Powers Innovation in Remote Asthma Care with Orla DTx Collaboration

Innokas was selected by Orla DTx Oy to design and develop a medical-grade software library that enhances remote asthma monitoring, further solidifying its role as a trusted partner in digital health innovation.
Orla DTx, a forward-thinking company specializing in remote asthma care, partnered with Innokas to modernize its peak expiratory flow (PEF) monitoring solution. The joint effort focused on refining their existing digital product to meet the stringent requirements of the EU Medical Device Regulation (MDR), with the goal of certifying the solution as a Class IIa medical device software (MDSW).
To comply with MDR standards and strengthen the scalability of their platform, Orla DTx sought to isolate the medical functionality into a standalone software library. Innokas stepped in to lead the design and development of this component, ensuring it met regulatory and quality standards while seamlessly integrating into Orla DTx’s existing .NET-based architecture.
Built for Quality, Compliance, and Future Scalability
The collaboration brought together deep technical expertise and a rigorous quality-first approach. Working within Orla DTx’s Quality Management System (QMS), the Innokas team implemented a modern technology stack tailored to meet regulatory demands while enhancing performance and maintainability:
- .NET Standard 2.0: Developed for interoperability with both legacy and modern .NET applications.
- GitHub & GitHub Actions: For source control, code reviews, and a CI pipeline ensuring quality and automation.
- JetBrains Rider & xUnit: To boost development efficiency and maintain robust unit testing.
- Jira & Confluence: For agile collaboration, requirement tracking, and comprehensive documentation.
The resulting software library met all compliance requirements and was smoothly integrated back into Orla DTx’s system, transforming their offering into a fully certified and future-proofed digital medical solution.
Enhancing Asthma Management for Patients and Providers
Orla DTx’s enhanced PEF Remote Monitoring product offers a smarter, digital-first approach to asthma care. By streamlining PEF measurements, it improves diagnostic accuracy, supports continuous patient-provider communication, and reduces unnecessary clinical visits, ultimately saving time, reducing costs, and improving outcomes for patients.
This collaboration showcases Innokas’s commitment to enabling next-generation digital health solutions that are not only technically advanced but also meet the highest standards of medical compliance.
