Cyber­se­cure Health Tech Forum, Helsin­ki

What are the cyber­se­cu­ri­ty require­ments in health tech and how to ensure com­pli­ance? Join a free edu­ca­tion­al sem­i­nar tar­get­ed at health tech star­tups and growth com­pa­nies to bet­ter under­stand and learn about need­ed coun­ter­mea­sures, brought to you by top experts. The Cyber­se­cure Health Tech Forum will be orga­nized as an offi­cial side event of the Rad­i­cal Health Fes­ti­val in coop­er­a­tion with Ver­ti­cal Inno­va­tion Con­sul­tan­cy.   1. Threat Land­scape: Cyber­crim­i­nals tar­get patient data, cred­it card infor­ma­tion, and busi­ness secrets. Net­work traf­fic pos­es a sig­nif­i­cant risk, but phys­i­cal secu­ri­ty for med­ical devices in pub­lic places is equal­ly cru­cial. Mobile apps accom­pa­ny­ing these devices intro­duce new attack vec­tors.
  2. Data Breach Pre­pared­ness: Being proac­tive is essen­tial. Embed­ding risk analy­sis and user edu­ca­tion through­out the prod­uct devel­op­ment process helps pre­vent data breach­es.
  3. Reg­u­la­to­ry Com­pli­ance: The recent­ly enforced EU Cyber­se­cu­ri­ty Act (Jan­u­ary 2024) intro­duces new reg­u­la­tions. Exist­ing reg­u­la­tions like the Med­ical Device Reg­u­la­tion (MDR) and the Gen­er­al Data Pro­tec­tion Reg­u­la­tion (GDPR) play vital roles. Addi­tion­al­ly, upcom­ing reg­u­la­tions such as the Arti­fi­cial Intel­li­gence Act, the Euro­pean Health Data Space Reg­u­la­tion, and the Data Act will impact med­ical devices’ cyber­se­cu­ri­ty require­ments.
  4. Indus­try Stan­dards: Beyond reg­u­la­tions, adher­ing to indus­try stan­dards is cru­cial. Health­care providers and phar­ma­ceu­ti­cal com­pa­nies often require ven­dors to com­ply with spe­cif­ic stan­dards.
  5. Chal­lenges and Solu­tions: The frag­ment­ed reg­u­la­to­ry land­scape out­side the EU pos­es chal­lenges. A data breach or non-com­pli­ance can be cat­a­stroph­ic, espe­cial­ly for small­er busi­ness­es.
