Oulu brings healthcare advancements to Arab Health 2019
The annual event, the Arab Health Congress in Dubai, has once again attracted thousands of exhibitors and global health industry leaders to Dubai for four days of networking and sharing the latest insights from the health sector. This event is the largest gathering of healthcare and trade professionals in the MEA region. This year, more than 84,500 visitors from 160+ countries arrived in the Dubai World Trade Centre to participate in the exhibition. The congress programme featured international speakers and covered a broad spectrum of the latest healthcare issues. It also offered a variety of side events that provided additional networking opportunities.
The event was an excellent opportunity to let the word know about Finnish world-class expertise in health technology and present innovations that have been developed in Oulu.
Health comes from Finland
Prior to the trade fairs, the companies took part in a visit to Cleaveland and Burjeel hospitals in Abu Dhabi, where they discussed the needs of the health sector with hospital authorities. Both hospitals are currently looking for technologies that, for example, can help to diagnose and treat patients with diabetes or cancer, which opens the door to Finnish health innovations.
OuluHealth and eleven top Finnish health companies were present in the Finland pavilion in Dubai from 28 to 31 January, right where the world comes to do business. These companies joined the exhibition to showcase their solutions, find business leads that will allow them to make a successful entry to the Middle East market or increase their already existing sales in the region. Oulu’s know-how was very well represented by Medanets, Optomed and ProWellness that effectively marked their presence in Dubai.
‘Our main goal was to meet with our partner’s Middle East team and to identify new partner candidates. We have invested in this exhibition by co-operating with the Middle East market experts that helped us organize meetings and by attending a joint stand organized by OuluHealth and Business Finland. Arab Health really exceeded our expectations. We had several high quality meetings and several prospects are continuing,’ said Juha-Matti Ranta, CEO at Medanets.
‘Our main focus was on a few pre-organized meetings. In addition, we were obviously hoping to have a high number of good discussions with relevant people at the stand. The pre-organized meetings exceeded our expectations as we have already agreed on the follow-up meetings with a few key stakeholders,’ added Petri Huhtinen, Business Unit Manager at Optomed.
This year, Arab Health attracted many key guests, including His Highness Sheikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and ruler of Dubai.
Finland’s well-earned reputation of being one of the strongest health technology countries in the world guaranteed a high number of visitors at the stand, which provided the companies with an opportunity to increase their visibility and establish new business contacts.
