Optomed takes home the Nordic Stars Awards 2018 prize

The Nordic Life Science Days conference held on 10-12 September in Stockholm culminated in rewarding three innovative life science companies from the Nordic countries. Oulu-based Optomed is one of the lucky winners this year.

Nordic Stars Awards were introduced in 2013 in special recognition of life science companies in the Nordic region demonstrating outstanding innovation and entrepreneurial skills.

Optomed received a well-deserved prize for its most effective solutions for eye disease screenings. The company has made fundus screening readily available and affordable to patients worldwide. Moreover, Optomed’s devices, in combination with AI-based software, have enhanced detection of diabetic retinopathy.

According to Alpo Keinänen, Design Director at Optomed, the company’s presence at the Nordic Life Science Days conference resulted in many interesting and fruitful conversations with the most inspirational people.

‘Being among the winners of Nordic Stars Awards is great honour. It gives us and our products a lot of good visibility and perhaps it opens up new opportunities,’ commented Keinänen.
