Entrepreneurial expansion to the Chinese market–health companies visit Nanjing

It started high with the first visit of ten Oulu-based companies to China in October. Timegate Instruments, Haltian, Likelle, Fingersoft, Prowellness, Selqee, Marviscale, Kipuwex, SEP Solutions, and Aava Mobile arrived in Nanjing to find out more about Chinese investments, business leads, market access, R&D funding as well as other market entry opportunities and services.

China has been developing fast and with its 1.4 billion population it is considered as one of the best places to invest. The Chinese market has huge business potential, but at the same time, it is quite different from the European one.

During their stay, the companies received a lot of useful information on how to look for business contacts and succeed on the Chinese market. They also found out that the Mini Silicon Valley Entrepreneurial Ecosystem (MiNiSV) established in Nanjing can provide them with a lot of help.

The MiNiSV is a platform specially designed to accelerate commercialization of innovations into entrepreneurship. It is directly connected to the Belt and Road Initiative, which is one of the most promising economic development projects. It will extend from the Chinese mainland to Europe and include more than 60% of the world’s population from 60+ countries across Asia, Europe and Africa. The MiNiSV is considered as a ‘pilot hub’ that will provide international entrepreneurial opportunities and support EU-based companies during their expansion to the Chinese market.

‘This visit has provided a solid ground for finding new business opportunities on the Chinese market. The flow of Finnish innovations has been initiated and the results look promising. Hopefully, we have paved the way for Oulu-based companies to enter new international market. Some of them have already received contacts to potential new customers,’ said Heidi Tikanmäki, Key Account Director, Health and Life Science at BusinessOulu.
